The Seward Facility Administrator provides coordinated leadership. Working through a collaborative teamwork approach, maintains the accountability and responsibility of all services at Providence Seward Medical and Care Center, the state licensed facility in Seward, Alaska.

In this position you will:
Provide visionary leadership.
Be an active participant and leader in the City of Seward.
Serve as liaison with the City of Seward; Is responsible for administration and stewardship of the Management and Operating Agreement for Providence Seward Medical and Care Center.
Motivate, facilitate and coach team and staff to deliver cost effective quality services.
Collaborate and influence organizational leaders in designing, innovating, expanding, refining and providing services across the continuum of care.
Develop effective relationships with leadership team, peers, physicians, staff, professional community and community Health Advisory Committee.
Participate directly in program planning and evaluation, development of support/clinical functional plans and review of functional plans for support departments to assure congruence with clinical objectives and quality standards.
Develop, implement and evaluate programs to promote recruitment, retention, development and continuing education of all physicians and staff members as necessary to promote quality care delivery.
Strive for and consistently achieves excellence in care provided to patients; Directs development and implementation of facility and departmental policies consistent with state regulatory agencies ambulatory, home health, nursing home and acute care standards; Models time management, accountability, dedication, self-discipline, and responsibility.
Maintain and/or enhances the self-esteem of others through listening and responding with empathy and clear transmission of information; Answers inquiries accurately and in a timely manner; Regularly participates in on-going collaboration with medical director regarding clinical activities.
Strive to improve own level of competence through skill development, keeping abreast of trends and new developments in health care and management theory.
Determine type and number of staff positions required to provide safe and effective care; Recruits and maintains staff; Sets and tracks productivity; Sets written standards for professional performance in accordance with the principles of professional practice and ethical conduct; Maintains evidence of credentials, license and training; Ensures continuing performance through written job descriptions, performance appraisals, inservice education, continuing education and provision of appropriate books, journals and other tools; Actively participates in the determination of sound compensation and benefits programs that are aligned with the objectives of the organization.
Responsible for the development of capital and operating budgets based on long and short term goals; Demonstrates fiscal responsibility through control of assets and expenses including equipment and supplies which assures quality products as the most cost effective service quality.
Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Masters degree in health management or a directly related field required (i.e. MRA with MSM.
Progressively responsible managerial and administrative experience required.
Five years senior administration experience and previous clinical experience working with medical staffs, committees and departments.
Must have the ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organizing work; and to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.
Excellent interpersonal skills, clinical knowledge, teaching expertise and proficient written communication skills required.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Alaska Nursing Home Administrator licensure is preferred.
Five years experience in Health Care Administration in an acute care setting preferred.
ABOUT THE MINISTRY YOU WILL SERVE
Providence Seward Medical & Care Center provides compassionate comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Seward. As a small, rural hospital it has entered into a swing bed agreement.
This critical access hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient health care services, including a 24-hour emergency department; laboratory and radiology services; and physical, speech and occupational therapies. The emergency department is staffed with registered nurses certiﬁed in advanced cardiac life support, trauma nursing, and pediatric advanced life support, and with physician’s that are board certiﬁed in either family practice or emergency medicine.
Seward is the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park, was named All-American City in 1963, 1965, and 2005, and enjoys a low mill rate of 3.12. Within the city there is a 7% sales tax and a 4% bed tax. Our population within city limits is about 2,600 people, with another 2,600 people living just beyond our city boundaries. Seward experiences a maritime climate with average winter temperatures ranging from 17 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit and average summer temperatures ranging 49 to 63 degrees Fahrenheit. We can see 66 inches on average of rain a year, and 80 inches of snowfall.
