Providence Mental Health Therapist *0.5/Days* in Palmer, Alaska


Providence is calling a Mental Health Therapist (PBMG Matsu, Day Shift, 0.5 FTE) to Providence Physician Service Organization in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position, you will:

  • TREATMENT PLANNING: Develop specific treatment plans in identifying clinical problems for individual patients and their families. Draw on the Medical Director and clinical staff in problem solving and planning at treatment team meetings or as needed. Is responsible for functions of assessment, charting, and discharge using the systems and procedures of the clinic for the patient and family treatment

  • GROUP, INDIVIDUAL, AND FAMILY COUNSELING: Facilitate and co-facilitate groups, family therapy sessions, and individual treatment sessions. Draw on theory and experience to provide a variety of therapeutic sessions and interventions specific to clients and their families

  • CONSULTATION AND COLLABORATION: Work cooperatively with other team members in providing patient care and crisis management. Establish positive working relationships and role models health communication skills. Assist with orientation of new employees

  • PATIENT AND FAMILY CARE: Monitor all patient and family progress in treatment and outcomes as a result of interventions. Provide structure and safe limit setting by developing therapeutic rapport with the patient and their family. Make ongoing assessments of patient's mental health status and assists in crisis management

  • DOCUMENTATION: Document a thorough assessment, including mental status exam, interventions and activities related to patient's plan of care. Participate in continuous quality improvement process. Maintain a working knowledge of the program's policies and procedures

  • FAMILY INTERVENTION AND EDUCATION: Actively solicit parents and family members to become part of the treatment process


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or health related field

  • Current State of Alaska Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)

  • Family counseling or therapist experience

  • Knowledge of mental health issues, both theory and practice; crisis intervention techniques; assessment techniques; and understanding of family outcomes
