Providence Health & Services Senior Manager Facilities Operations in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling a Senior Manager Facilities Operations (Facilities Support, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska. In this position you will:
Organize, coordinate, and oversee the overall operations and activities of Facilities Support, Materials Management, EVS/Laundry, Operational Support, Maintenance, and all responsible areas. Plan, organize, supervise, and control the activities in the Hospital’s physical environment and maintenance functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, the H.V.A.C, mechanical, electrical systems, utilities, and grounds of all facilities in all service areas also coordinates with Senior Design and Construction Manger in regards to major project design and implementation. Carry out regular preventive maintenance programs.
Responsible for preparation of annual budgets and monitor budgets for variances, assures fiscal responsibility and cost consciousness (Capital & Expense budgets)
Assure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and Department of Health (DOH) standards, and with all federal, state and local laws, regulations, and codes applicable to physical plant operations, security, housekeeping, and safety requirements. Interpret codes, regulations and laws and comply with regulatory requirements for program operation. Ensure required documentation for EOC elements of performance are updated and compliant and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies facilitating sastisfactory investigations by those agencies.
Provide effective leadership to ensure annual performance improvement goals are met by ensuring effective metrics are in place and regularly updated. Proactively identify deficient areas and appropriate countermeasures. Provide leadership to facilitate inter- and intra-departmental integration of services.
Plans major repairs and renovations to the facility infrastructure within the Hospital and serves as the Facilities representative during these projects; supervise the design and development of these projects with the Real Estate and Strategic Operations (RESO) team. Determine whether repair should be done by outside contractors or by Hospital personnel.
Ensure department employees adhere to Hospital policies and procedures related to infection control, personal protective clothing and equipment, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies, and department procedures also ensures that appropriate staff competencies are maintained (licensure, certification, orientation, mandatory training continuing education).
Foster an environment that nurtures collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect through effective communication and excellent customer service.
Collaborate with Human Resources on personnel issues and coordinate with Talent Acquisition on recruitment items including completing requisitions, interviewing, and hiring.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Or equivalent educ/experience
5 years Engineering/maintenance experience in a medical setting
5 years leadership or supervisory experience
5 years acute care facilities management experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Engineering
Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Lean, or Six Sigma Certification
Certified Healthcare Environmental Management (HEM)

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
