Providence Health & Services Maintenance Mechanic II in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling a Maintenance Mechanic II (Building Maintenance, Variable, 1.0 FTE) at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska.
The Maintenance Mechanic II will coordinate, inspect and perform the repairs and maintenance of building finishes and minor equipment under the direction of the Building and Plant Supervisor.
In this position you will:
Logically investigate and analyze symptoms to accurately identify problems.
Demonstrate competence and knowledge in the utilization of standard test equipment.
Demonstrate basic working knowledge for minor electrical repairs, relamping and ballast replacement, emergency lighting and LIM units.
Demonstrate basic working knowledge for minor plumbing repairs on sinks, toilets, floor drains and HVAC equipment.
Demonstrate basic working knowledge for minor carpentry, door hardware, painting and other miscellaneous minor building repairs or projects.
Demonstrate basic working knowledge for minor repairs, misc. equipment including beds, wheel chairs, gurneys and case carts.
Effectively interpret manuals and schematics, including blueline drawings and emergency procedures.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or the equivalent
Alaska Driver's License
2 year general maintenance experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Boiler Operator License or refrigeration experience highly preferred
Hospital maintenance experience

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
