Providence Health & Services Supervisor Telemetry - Telemetry *0.9/Night*$1,000 Sign-On Bonus* in Anchorage, Alaska

Providence is calling a Supervisor Telemetry (Telemetry, Night Shift, 0.9 FTE - 36 hours per week) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • LEADERSHIP & COMMUNICATION: Clearly and consistently communicates agreed telemetry/ telesitter priorities and desired outcomes to staff. Attempts to resolve conflicts and concerns in a helpful and calm manner. Holds regular staff meetings to communicate to staff all appropriate medical center and service area issues, data trends, and changes on a routine basis and in a manner that fosters understanding and feedback. Appropriately credits team members for the effort and accomplishment of desired outcomes

  • SERVICE: Understand the needs of the telemetry/telesitter customer and prioritizes work assignments and team efforts toward meeting these needs. Ensures that the processes, systems, and tools, which enable the telemetry teams to support the customer, medical center and service area needs, are available and are used. Assists with the coordination of telemetry work activities affecting other areas in a manner that minimizes disruptions and inconveniences of the customer. Responds to complaints and concerns in a manner, which demonstrates the organizations, core values. Organizes the activities of the techs in the monitoring studio. This includes: establishing and updating policies and procedures in accordance with hospital policies, standard practices of the profession, and related state and federal laws in collaboration with the leadership team

  • OPERATIONS: Routinely review the performance of telemtry teams against key indicators, and takes action when necessary to improve outcomes. Manages the operations budget in a cost effective manner. Reviews the total hours worked by the telemetry teams to ensure that they are appropriate for the work output. Reviews documentation periodically to ensure that records, including work orders, labor reports, purchasing, shared resource documentation, etc., meet applicable standards such as JCAHO, municipal, State and Federal agencies, and other regulatory guidelines.Ability to make decisions when working independently and assume responsibility for the techs in the monitoring studio with assistance from leadership. Working with the manager of this area, ensures that staffing is satisfactory to meet the needs and demands of the department and facility.Collaborate with the physicians, nursing staff, and the other departments within the hospital to facilitate smoothly coordinated patient care services. Keeps the needs of internal and external customers on the forefront, and takes actions to ensure that those needs are met. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect

  • DEVELOPMENT & LEARNING: Coach and supports staff in a way that supports teamwork and produces intended outcomes. Plans and implements formal and informal staff development in-service sessions for team members. Provides constructive feedback to staff. Selects and develops staff who will meet the organizational objectives and purposes. Takes time and the initiative to learn new skills, systems, and information pertaining to telemetry or supervisory functions

  • Assist in the hiring process of all techs. Assures that all caregivers are oriented and meet all required competencies to perform their jobs. Supports leadership decisions. Builds trust and inspires teamwork. Recognizes and encourages staff to meet their potential and to use their talents to achieve a common goal

  • TEAMWORK: Effectively interact with other departments and teams. Encourages staff to work directly with other team members when resolving issues. Develops and implements work schedules and work assignments fairly and equally and in a manner that is consistent with staff learning and development plans

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Provide a pleasant work environment for the telemetry teams. Fosters a calm, balanced, and focused approach for the team when working in crises or when resolving tense or emotional situations

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Verification of completion of basic EKG cardiac rhythm recognition course, and advanced cardiac rhythm recognition course

  • Completion of a medical terminology course

  • 2 years supervisor experience in a healthcare setting, lead assignments and leading projects may be substituted for supervisor experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 5 years experience monitoring ECGs in an area that has the capability to monitor at least 80 patients
