Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident, Various Units and Shifts, 0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week to St. Elias in Anchorage, Alaska. Our Residency program transitions new graduate nurses into practice emphasizing inter-professional, collaborative, and patient-centered care. Our comprehensive specialty curriculum includes online and classroom-based learning, clinical simulation, skills development, and unit orientation with specialty trained preceptors. Our Core Fundamentals program is designed to support new graduate professional development through their first year of practice.

*The RN Resident program is up to 16 weeks of training. Candidates hired will have a 2 year commitment to the unit after completion of the Residency. Candidates must pass NCLEX and have RN license posted with the State of AK. Current BLS from the American Heart Association required prior to starting.
We do not offer relocation for our Residency program.

Please also keep our critical access hospitals in mind located in Valdez, Seward and Kodiak. Our Extended Care and Transitional Care facilities also take new graduates, so those are great places to work as well!
In this position you will:
Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient’s care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes.
Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights values and beliefs of those we serve.
Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students.
Align practice with safety and quality.
Be accountable for safety. Identify and correct problems.
Engage in ongoing professional development; promote a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates and disseminates research and evidence-based practice.
Lead and coordinate teams, delegate, coordinate care and collaborate with others as equal members of the interprofessional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
All Registered Nurses without a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher must obtain a BSN within 3 years of hire. RNs with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered. If RN holds a multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military
Completed a pre-licensure nursing program and is newly licensed. Length of time since graduation can vary; however, typically is less than 12 months from graduation
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
National certification in area of specialty
