Providence Health & Services RN Lactation Consultant in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a RN Lactation Consultant (Resource Pool, Evening Shift, 0.60 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivery every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Be accountable for the direct and indirect care for infants and women both in the inpatient or outpatient clinic setting.
Develop feeding plans to address the nutritional needs of the infant that may include but is not limited to breastfeeding support, breast pumping support, and supplementation as appropriate.
Provide lactation support and education to inpatients.
Provide lactation support and education as directed by referral in the outpatient clinic setting after discharge.
Work seamlessly in multiple inpatient departments.
Recognize and deliver appropriate evidence based care during the different phases of their hospital/clinic experience.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of a nursing program
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with the state of Alaska
Current International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience providing lactation care in a Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, or NICU department or in an outpatient mother baby clinical setting
Meet experience requirements for specific unit/clinic/department
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
2 years NICU RN experience
Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings
