Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Educator (Staff Development, Days , 1.0 FTE) to St. Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. $5000 sign on bonus to eligible candidates**

In this position you will:

  • Develop and implement a competency-based nursing orientation program for both novice and experienced nursing hires and coordinates orientation of new nursing staff.

  • Evaluate outcome of patient care, consults with other professionals as required and works with staff to adjust nursing care processes as necessary to ensure optimum patient care.

  • Give direction and assistance to both staff and patients in planning for and delivering care to multi-problem patients and educates employees and patients in specialized knowledge, procedures and techniques. Assesses educational needs of nursing staff and writes policies on standards for specialized care, using data from nurses, patients, clinical information and relevant research.

  • Act as educational resource to instruct nursing staff, patient and family regarding tests, procedures, and agency policy. Educate nursing staff to preceptor roles and responsibilities and mentors them regarding general nursing

  • techniques.

  • Evaluate and verify employee performance

  • Documentation of issues, follow-ups, results, plan interventions.

  • Interviewing for potential hires.

  • Develop an individual education plan for Clinical Staff

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska

  • 3 years experience in a clinical setting within the area of practice

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association certification at time of hire

  • Certification within area of practice must be obtained within 6 months of hire

About St. Elias Specialty Hospital

St. Elias Specialty Hospital is owned by Providence Health System. The hospital has 59 beds, almost all private rooms. The facility features state of the art equipment to provide extended inpatient acute care for patients.

At St. Elias Specialty Hospital, we provide customized, physician-driven services for patients requiring longer stays in an acute care environment due to multiple or complex medical conditions. We are not a permanent placement for patients; rather we are an answer for many patients who are acutely ill and need to take the first steps towards rehabilitation or home.
