Providence Health & Services RN Clinic - Primary Care in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) (Pmg Primary Care, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Physician Service Organization in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Observe patients for pathophysiology and the disease process, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and education needs, cognitive status, safety and equipment.
Demonstrate effective clinical judgment, and provides appropriate therapeutic interventions per clinic guidelines.
Determine effectiveness of interventions, and communicates to physician and other healthcare provider.
Prepare patients for physician or healthcare provider encounters including auditing charts in accordance with standards and policies. Take vital signs as indicated, records patients’ histories, prepare appropriate instruments for examination or procedure.
Perform patient follow-up including notifying patients of laboratory results, scheduling referral appointments, maintaining charts and records, and responding to patient telephone calls.
Maintain tracking systems to ensure compliance with medical guidelines and health maintenance standards.
Assist physicians and other healthcare providers in procedures such as minor surgery, sigmoidoscopy, biopsy, colposcopy, IUD insertion, orthopedic casting, treadmill, and stress testing.
Perform nursing procedures such as EKG, spirometry, ear lavage, injections, starting and maintaining intravenous infusions, dressing changes, urinary catheterizations, finger stick blood glucose testing, tympanograms and audiograms.
Providence education to patients in a wide variety of health care subjects such as maternal/child health care, nutrition and life style issues, sexually transmitted diseases, basic health care maintenance, and self-administration of medications.
Perform nursing visits independent of physicians including blood pressure screenings, diabetic teaching, and newborn weight checks.
Perform support duties such as sterilizing and wrapping instruments, stocking and cleaning exam rooms and treatment rooms, facilitating physician correspondence, obtaining consents for treatment, and reviewing medication cupboards for outdated medications.
Required qualifications for this position include:
•Graduation as a RN from a school of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing.
•1 year of professional nursing experience.
•Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
•Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
•Prior clinic or outpatient experience.
