Providence is calling a Psychiatric Care Technician (Crisis Recovery enter Night shift, 0.5 FTE) at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Psychiatric Care Technician Under

general supervision, performs a variety of psychiatric duties designed to

provide care to psychiatric clients in sub-acute crisis stabilization

service. Responsible for performing

duties in conformance with both hospital and unit policies and standard

operating procedures.

In this position you will:

  • Assist clinical staff with client admissions.Provide assistance to staff and clients depending on clinical oradministrative need.

  • Assist with coordination of client flow and milieu management.Recognize the special needs of mental healthclients and assists in providing the least restrictive environment of care forthe management of the client.

  • Provide basic client care under the supervision of the primary caregiver. Assist clients with activities of dailyliving such as ambulating, nourishment, and community resourcecoordination. Responsible for glucosemonitoring/checks and vital signs at the discretion of the primary care giver.

  • Accuratelyobserve, report, and document client behavior; recognize and indicate tothe treatment team when significant psychiatric acuity changes are occurring inclients.

  • Communicate effectively with families and clients experiencing a range of psychiatricillnesses.Activate and assist treatment team to deescalate and/or transition combative and self-abusive clientsas per unit policy and procedures.


R equired qualifications for this position include:

  • High school graduate or General Equivalency Degree (GED)

  • MANDT or PMAB (Prevention and Management ofAggressive Behavior) within six months of hire is required. Training is available through ProvidenceAlaska Learning Institute (PALI).

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) or more years of experienceworking in a behavioral health position preferred.
