Providence Health & Services Pharmacy Technician I - Family Medicine in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Pharmacy Technician I (Family Medicine Center, Days, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Physician Service Organization in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Utilize technical skills in performance of daily operations which may include accurate updating of patient profiles, answering telephone calls, and collaborating with local pharmacies and third party insurance plans. Reviews registries and other reports to identify targeted patients for possible clinical pharmacist intervention. Creates medication list of patient’s medications including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements inclusive of the drug/product name, dosage, frequency, route and indications. Clarifies medication information through interview with the patient, family, care givers, pharmacies, previous medical records and medical providers as necessary. Assists with pricing of patient medications for billing when needed. Assists with maintaining drug inventory.
Utilize critical thinking in performance of Pharmaceutical Care activities. Able to troubleshoot issues efficiently and perform proper procedures of the department regarding medication reconciliation workflow. Ability to think clearly and maintain composure keeping the patient’s needs in focus.
Collaborate with care team members to utilize resources efficiently. Makes suggestions to improve areas of weakness in workflow. Participates in committees and quality improvement projects as requested. Uses communication skills to work effectively with the care team to accomplish patient care goals.
Provide technical assistance with collecting, clarifying, and documenting complete and accurate medication histories utilizing appropriate procedures and protocols for clinical pharmacy appointments and medication reconciliation. Documents resolution of discrepancies in the medical record so that the clinical pharmacist may review and reconcile the patient’s medication list.
Utilize abilities and knowledge to maximize individual performance by prioritizing work and assists the clinical pharmacist in maintaining a productive workflow to uphold the patient as the top priority.

Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of Alaska. Must submit current, valid and original Alaska Pharmacy Technician license at time of hire. Copies of the license as well as the wallet card verification are not acceptable.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
One (1) year experience working as a technician in a retail or medical setting performing medication reconciliation.
