Providence Health & Services Pharmacy Technician - Extended Care in Anchorage, Alaska

It this position you will:
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Uses technical skills in performance of daily operations. Demonstrates proficiency with Windows based computer operations & skills, vendor order processing, pharmacy computer system order entry, Pyxis order entry, Medi-Dose entry. Performs pharmaceutical calculations, basic compounding, medication packaging, medication order processing and distribution. Analyzes, codes and approves invoices and processes paperwork for Accounts Payable. Executes pharmacy billing processes and processes paperwork for Accounts Receivable. Oversees processing of medications for destruction.
TEAMWORK: Collaborates with team members to maximize departmental resources. Coordinates daily technical workflow and prioritizes work assignments. Provides cross coverage for all Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
COMMUNICATIONS: Identifies resident and staff needs and either resolves issues/ requests as able, or contacts the appropriate authority. Obtains and provides accurate information for the completion of pharmacy duties. Resolves billing issues with resident payor sources.
DOCUMENTATION: Documents resident and procedural information accurately and thoroughly. Completes complex documentation accurately as required for pharmacy operations per federal, state law and facility protocols. Completes all audits from payors.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: Coordinates the ordering, receiving, storage, distribution and return of legend drug and over the counter (OTC) inventory. Manages inventory stock levels and systems for maintaining the “in date” status of supplies. Responds to all drug recalls. QUALITY MANAGEMENT: Analyzes and evaluates technical processes and makes recommendations for improvements and efficiencies.
Required qualifications for this position include:
1 year Pharmacy technician in a retail or institutional environment.
Experience with unit dose delivery systems and pharmacy delivery software programs.
Current State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician license.
National Pharmacy Technician certification is desirable

Providence Extended Care at the Cottages is located on a campus that includes eight cottages and a Commons Building. The Cottages are home to 96 residents. The Commons Building includes the facility reception area, Resident Bank, Gift Shop, Rehabilitation Therapies, Chapel, Supplies, Plant Services, Dietary, Support Services, Staff Development, Administration offices and Conference Rooms. The Cottages bear the names of Alaskan rivers and are arranged in alphabetical order along Compassion Circle.
Each cottage is a home that contains 12 private bedrooms/baths situated around a warm, inviting hearth and living area. An open kitchen allows residents and guests to enjoy the aromas and happenings of a kitchen, just like home. Each Cottage includes a Den along with a Spa and beauty/barber shop station. A patio off the dining area provides easy access to the outdoors and gardening opportunities. Large windows in the living area provide views for all to enjoy.
