Providence Health & Services Operating Room Assistant I *1 FTE, Evenings* in Anchorage, Alaska

Description:

Providence is calling an Operating Room Assistant I (Operating Room, Evening Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Anticipate the equipment and supply needs of the Nursing staff, initiates actions to expedite surgical procedures. Communicates with Nursing Staff.

  • Appropriately identify and safely transport patients to and from Surgical Services according to procedure. Provides for the comfort and safety of patients during transport.

  • Place surgical equipment in the Operating Rooms in the correct location. Prepares equipment for procedure. Cleans and sterilizes equipment before and after use.

  • Perform first case room wipedown daily prior to start of cases of the Operating Rooms, decontamination between cases, and terminally cleaning the OR’s at the end of the day. Cleans, maintains, stocks, and stores equipment. Completes daily cleaning documentation.

  • Organize and restock storage areas within the Operating Room.

  • Maintain a safe, hazard free environment for patients, families and co-workers.

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and nursing staff regarding patient and equipment issues.

  • Respond to pager or radio phone in a prompt and courteous manner. Assures that coverage for your duties occurs during breaks and lunches.

  • Follow the Lead Team Leader instructions as to assignments and quality of work performed.

  • Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • BLS certification required within six weeks of hire

  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position

  • Must be able to vary schedule to meet department needs

  • Must be able to visually distinguish colors

  • Must be able to meet the minimum physical requirements of the job

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant

  • 1 year Hospital experience
