Providence Nursing Student Extern - Neonatal Intensive Care *0.3 FTE, Variable* in Anchorage, Alaska

Nursing Student Extern - Neonatal Intensive Care at Providence Alaska Medical Center

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Extern assists patients with activities of daily living; provides a safe environment for patients by providing 1:1 observation and care; and, assists staff and patients with select procedures and health interventions, all in a family centered environment. The Extern can also assist in data collection activities (i.e. hand hygiene survalliance, personal protective equipment usage, etc).

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an NLN approved nursing program

  • ABLS (or within six months of hire).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an NLN approved Bachelor of Science nursing program; has successfully completed, at a minimum, the 1st semester of clinicals

  • Previous employment in a health care setting
