Providence is calling a Nuclear Medicine Technologist ( Pet Scanner , Day Shift, 0.9 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
PROCEDURES: Performs diagnostic PET/CT exams on patients as prescribed by physician, an in accordance with department, IDTF and national standards. Accesses and starts IV’s on PET-CT patients and CT patients. Administers appropriate oral and IV contrast and medications under the direction of a supervising radiologist. Explains procedures to patient and family and addresses patient concerns. Identify and respond to acute care complications as necessary.
DOCUMENTATION: Responsible for accurately preparing and completing records, daily quality assurance and quality improvement information, and meeting regulatory standards. Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors. Compiles and maintains quality assurance information.
EQUIPMENT: Responsible for calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting Pet/Ct equipment. Optimizes equipment and supplies to benefit department operations.
SUPPLIES AND INVENTORY: Stocks work area daily. May be involved in stocking general supplies or ordering as requested. Calculates and administers FDG doses under the direct supervision of a Radiologist.
SAFETY AND EDUCATION: Complies with department and IDTF radiation and safety standards. Follows radiation safety techniques and policies in the use and disposal of radioactive materials. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Practices Body Substance Isolation. Completes education necessary to maintain licensure or certification required for job. Maintains regulatory requirements.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduation from an approved school of Radiology Sciences.
Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NMTCB.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year in NM.
