Providence is calling a Monitor Technician (Telemetry, Variable, 0.0 FTE - On-Call) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, A.K. In this position you will:

  • Observe, record, and interpret patient cardiac rhythm monitoring results according to established unit protocols which includes: entering patient names and room number in central station monitoring system, monitoring cardiac rhythms and notifying RN of alarm situations.

  • Recognize and respond immediately and appropriately to potential emergency situations that arise.

  • Assist nursing staff with cardiac pattern interpretation.

  • Establish and maintain daily communication with team and other departments.

  • Facilitate inter-department communication.

  • Facilitate accurate transfer of information between appropriate individuals and departments in person and via telephone.

  • Accurately maintain department records, reports, and files per procedure.

  • Assist with the collection of data for quality measures as appropriate.

  • Operate multiple telecommunication and business, office and administrative equipment.

  • Understand the process for downtime slips and paperwork.

  • Assist in orientation/teaching other hospital employees.

  • Recognize and maintains patient confidentiality issues.

  • Maintain good rapport by interacting in conflict or stressful situations in manner that facilitates constructive resolutions and relationships.

  • Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served.

  • Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department.

Qualifications:

Qualifications - External

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Verification of completion of basic EKG cardiac rhythm recognition course required with-in six(6) months of hire

  • 6 months experience working in a healthcare or institutional setting

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Medical terminology course

  • Verification of advanced cardiac rhythm recognition course

  • 6 months experience monitoring ECGs in an area that has the capability to monitor at least 16 patients
