Providence Mental Health Specialist in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Mental Health Specialist (Mental Health 4W, Variable, 0.5 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Continuously monitor all patients. Provide structure and safety by setting limits and developing therapeutic rapport with the patients. Make ongoing observation of patients' behavior and assisting in crisis management. Work under work under the guidance of RN/ANP, or Assessment Specialist.
Answer crisis calls. Completes risk assessments. Make appropriate crisis interventions. Initiates appropriate referrals. Document crisis calls and the actions taken on the appropriate forms. Make follow-up calls with patients when appropriate and completes documentation.
Provide input to treatment team regarding identification of clinical problems for individual patients. Assist in problem solving and management of the milieu. Participate in team approach to patient care. Establish positive working relationships and role models healthy communication skills.
Possibly requested to order and maintain office supplies for the unit. Answer phones, screen visitors, enter orders in the computer, schedule appointments at the direction of RN/ANP, or Assessment Specialist. Knowledge of word processing and data entry.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Individuals not BLS certified or current with certification at hire will receive training to meet this requirement
