Providence Health & Services Infection Preventionist - Safety Program Coordinator - Extended Care - *Sign On Bonus* in Anchorage, Alaska

Providence is calling an Infection Preventionist - Safety Program Coordinator (1.0 FTE/40 hours a week) to Providence Extended Care in Anchorage, Alaska. The work schedule is primarily Monday-Friday Day shift but may change due to staffing needs. In this position you will:

  • Review and follow-up with microbiological reports to monitor the presence of infectious microorganisms so that data can be analyzed in a timely manner and appropriate action taken.

  • In collaboration with PALTCS Medical Director and Pharmacy Manager; Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct antimicrobial stewardship control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in nursing care facilities.

  • Participate as a member of the Quality Council. Shares data with council as scheduled. Serves as chair for Infection Control meeting, a sub-committee of the quality council to develop indicators to measure, monitor, and report performance to other team members.

  • Oversight of clinical practices for compliance with CDC and OSHA standards. Timely reporting of communicable diseases to the public health departments.

  • Act as liaison for employee flu vaccination and TB status tracking and testing in coordination with Employee Health.

  • Coordination and oversight of patient/resident immunization.

  • Assure implementation of appropriate interventions to address identified infection prevention issues as needed. Assists with writing and education of current and comprehensive policies and procedures.

  • Develop education activities and performs educational training, in collaboration with Staff Development Director, to caregivers and physicians that address all requirements of infection prevention specified by federal, stat, local laws and regulatory bodies. Acts as an infection prevention resource for departments.

  • Promote a safety-supportive culture at PALTCS campus for the consistent application of evidence-based healthcare. Partners with leadership, staff, and physicians to develop systems and structures at PALTCS campus to deploy patient safety awareness and process improvements.

  • Develop and implement a campus-wide patient safety/high reliability initiatives that includes needs assessment based on various data and information sources, recommendations for priorities, strategies for implementation and measurable results.

  • Ongoing focus to develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct Emergency Preparedness for continual readiness (to include caregiver education, required drill procedures, and protocol management).

  • Direct the analysis of outcome data to identify trends and system issues; also monitors, evaluates and leverages data to implement sustainable change on key patient safety and high reliability indicators and patient safety goals performance.

  • Conduct patient safety rounds and tracers to interface with line staff in work areas and promote safe practices at the point of service.

  • Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing.

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing.

  • Certification in infection prevention.

  • Responsibility for infection control procedures programs.
