Providence Health Information Management Technician III - Medical Records in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Health Information Management (HIM) Technician III (Medical Records, Days , 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK. We are a community of caregivers delivery every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Access, analyze, index and scan patient records.
Analyze qualitative data in various information systems.
Analyze request for Release of Information to insure HIPAA compliance.
Demonstrate competence using multiple department computer applications and successfully troubleshoots and resolves mechanical issues as they arise.
Use critical thinking skills to assist with prioritization and organization within various department guidelines for each process.
In accordance with established policy and procedure, acts independently to ensure routine tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Participate in Quality Improvement monitoring analysis and improvement activities. Manipulate data and providesa variety of reports to users.
Ensure proper technical set-up and maintenance of equipment utilized in the department.
Cross-train in a variety of departmental functions. Serve as a trainer and resource person.
Embrace and encourage others to participate as a team member to achieve department and organization goals.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a college level medical terminology course, or demonstrated competence of medical terminology
2 years of Health Information Management or relevant experience
Exemplary analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to extrapolate theory into application
Ability to distinguish letters and numbers and perceive discrimination between and among documents
Demonstrated skills with Windows or similar PC-based applications
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
