Providence Emergency Department Technician in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Emergency Department Technician (Emergency Department, Variable Shift, 0.9 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Provide basic patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and direction of the Charge Nurse and MD.
Actively round in assigned clinical area clinical area to obtain vital signs, provide comfort, and assistance to meet patient and family needs.
Demonstrate accountability within clinical assignment (e.g. reports significant patient findings to RN, repeat vital signs, room turnover, empty linen bags, obtain urine specimens).
Prepare patient for initial exam, interventions, transports, and discharge.
Demonstrate effective priority setting and organization skills to promote department flow and cost efficiency (e.g. completing charges accurately, using downtime productively).
Demonstrate knowledge and support of quality improvement goals.
Communicate in a compassionate manner to patients, families, and visitors.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School graduate or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant
1 year patient care experience in an acute care or pre-hospital setting
Experience with plaster and fiberglass splinting, application of various orthopedic soft goods and wound care
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology, application of dressings and splints, and basic patient care procedures
