Director Network & Business Development

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of the Alaska Health Alliance with Providence, the Director of Network & Business Development (Network Director) is responsible for provider engagement and network growth and management for the clinically integrated network. The Alaska Health Alliance with Providence (AHAP) is a clinically integrated network to improve quality of care, improve provider and patient experience, and lower cost of care in Alaska. This position develops the AHAP provider network strategy, provider contracting, provider relations and operations to support provider services, network development, provider education, and product and market expansion.

The Network Director leads and executes strategic relationships between AHAP and health insurers, including provider contracting strategy and payment innovation programs on behalf of AHAP and in collaboration with Providence Health & Services Alaska (PHSA), including value-based care programs. The Director plays a pivotal role in developing integration relationships between AHAP providers, PHSA ministries, and other healthcare providers to achieve the Quadruple Aim and to support value-based care contracts with insurers, employers, and third-party administrators.

The Network Director will develop network, payer, and sales strategies as well as provider contract negotiations under the general direction of the AHAP Board of Managers and will support the payment strategy committee of the Board. Together with the Executive Director of AHAP, the Network Director consults with PHSA service line directors, clinical managers, and regional executives on the creation of successful payer strategies for AHAP with national and regional insurance carriers and third-party administrators to develop a value-based product line for AHAP in collaboration with PHSA ministries.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent

  • 10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in managed health care, preferably within an integrated health system. Should include senior management experience in health plan, hospital or physician group

  • Managed care experience to include product development, operations, network development, provider and payor relations, and negotiating risk agreements

  • Must have experience leading and managing large, complex strategies to successful completion

  • Experience in developing and implementing contractual relationships and creative partnerships

  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration

  • Successful track record of developing and managing a statewide network function in health care

Providence Imaging Center (PIC) is an independent diagnostic testing facility for outpatient medical imaging, located on the east side of the Providence Alaska Medical Center campus. PIC completed an expansion, which added 8,000 square feet, and several pieces of new equipment and 23 dedicated PIC parking spots conveniently located adjacent to the facility.
