Providence Health & Services Clinical Nurse Specialist Advanced in Anchorage, Alaska

Providence is calling a Clinical Nurse Specialist Advanced ( Ak Nursing Prof Support Dept, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Direct interaction with patients, families, and groups of patients to promote health or well-being and improve quality of life. Characterized by a holistic perspective in the advanced nursing management of health, illness, and disease states.

  • Conducts comprehensive, holistic wellness and illness assessments using known or innovative evidence-based techniques, tools, and direct and indirect methods.

  • Obtains data about context and etiologies necessary to formulate plans of care, and to identify and evaluate outcomes.

  • Assesses the effects of interactions among the individual, family, community, and social systems on health and illness.

  • Assesses the impact of environmental/system factors on care.

  • In collaboration with clinical staff develop and facilitate processes to identify potential risks to patient safety, autonomy and quality of care based on assessments across the patient, nurse and system spheres of influence with the intent to prevent unattended consequences and errors.

  • Synthesizes assessment data, advanced knowledge, and experience, using critical thinking and clinical judgment to formulate plans of care for clinical problems amenable to CNS intervention.

  • Develops and evaluates evidence-based clinical interventions and systems to achieve defined patient outcomes.

  • Demonstrates accountability for clinical outcomes and participates with other interdisciplinary team members maintaining continuity of care for patients and families

  • Assists staff in the development of innovative, cost effective programs or protocols of care.

  • Evaluates nursing practice that considers Safety, Timeliness, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Efficacy, and Patient-centered care.

  • Differentiates between outcomes that require care process modification at the individual patient level and those that require modification at the system level.

  • Meets expert competencies and clinical requirements of staff RN in the area of speciality/division.

  • In collaboration with clinical leaders helps to ensure care guidelines are based in evidence, up to date, and relayed to staff.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree From a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. (NLNAC).

  • 3 years experience Registered nursing in area of specialty.

  • 2 years experience in clinical leadersip responsibility.

  • Current RN license in state of Alaska;Current APRN – CNS license in the state of Alaska; Current certification as CNS and Current core course completions in BLS, ACLS, PALS or NRP.

  • Current certification in area of specialty within 1 year of hire or when qualified to take exam. New grads have 1 year from graduation to obtain certification.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • CNS certification in area of specialty.
