Providence Clinical Effectiveness Specialist (RN) in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Clinical Effectiveness Specialis t (RN) (Peer Review, Days , 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
DATA COLLECTION/MANAGEMENT: Collect accurate clinical data for defined clinical indicators, performs data analysis, summarizes, and reports to various improvement teams, committees or Medical Staff departments. Write and run reports on medical staff activities. Serves as a resource for physicians needing data for review.
COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK: Use verbal and written communication skills to establish and maintain effective relationships, facilitates multi-disciplinary team Quality Improvement activities and produces written and/or verbal reports. Collaborates effectively with elected Chairs of PAMC medical staff, committees and other physicians to develop clinical indicators for quality screening. Collaborates with PAMC management, clinical staff, other quality improvement staff, etc. to support clinical improvements. Respond to providers with questions about peer review and specific case review. Review data to understand potential trends and implications. Reports findings to the appropriate party or department for action.
COMPUTER/SYSTEM OPERATIONS: Effectively use computers to manage data storage, query and report generation, spreadsheet creation and maintenance, presentation preparation and internet searching. Maintain multiple tables and data bases of peer review activities.
CONSULTATION: Apply knowledge/expertise in clinical standards and hospital processes to identify opportunities for improvement; acts as resource for regulatory/accreditation quality standards and applies knowledge to improvement activities. Conduct literature research to understand the accepted standard of care for multiple disciplines, diagnoses and procedures. Collaborate with accreditation, patient safety and risk management on specific incidents.
DOCUMENTATION: Maintain strict confidentiality of clinical information, quality screens, and clinical outcome reports, and any physician performance screens/reports. Responsible for maintaining current and archived peer review screens and studies and other required documentation. Collaborates with the Medical Staff office to maintain provider QI files.
EDUCATION: Provide physicians and ancillary staff with orientation at inception of privileges at PAMC and ongoing to ensure that all understand the role of ongoing professional practice evaluation. Teach new department chairs their role in the process of case review and follow up.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska
4 years of recent health care experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Certification as Health Care Quality Professional
