Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Compliance Specialist PSJH to Providence Health & Services in Beaverton or Portland, Oregon.

The Senior Compliance Specialist position provides compliance program support to management across Providence St Joseph Health and its Affiliates in furtherance of our mission and to provide an effective compliance program. This position performs and leads the work of others on select individual, coordinated, or complex projects. This position works with highly sensitive information and leads some aspects of the Integrity, Compliance and Privacy Program, including workforce orientation, development of compliance & privacy education, incident response & documentation, investigations, regulatory research, policy & procedure development, compliance monitoring and program-related projects.

Responsibilities are diverse supporting ambulatory, physician and ancillary services for PJSH and its affiliates, and support for all other functions as determined by business need, including hospitals, clinics, home and community care, Providence health plan, medical foundations, educational institutions, child care centers, and Providence Strategic Management Services (PSMS).

This position includes some overnight travel and routine inter-facility commuting.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned investigations and compliance projects following department practice standards with minimal supervision while keeping management well apprised of results and completion status.

  • Work with and lead staff (compliance specialists, security analysts, internal auditors) on large, complex, multi-location or system-wide projects or investigations, including work being performed under the direction of legal counsel. May direct activities of Compliance Specialist I or II in aspects of investigations.

  • Act as technical resource within the department for select regional or PSMS functions/activities. Answer questions, analyzes data, conducts research, conducts interviews and makes recommendations to address compliance matters.

  • Analyze date, operations and investigative results and draft recommendations and responses, with client management, that will improve controls and mitigate risk to the organization.

  • Assists in developing and editing educational content/presentations and other program documentation; participate or lead ministry outreach activities, including compliance and risk-based education presentations to facility management and caregivers.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of a system-wide clinic self assessment program.

  • Serve as representative and facilitate implementation of system strategic and department initiatives.

  • Assists in developing and editing educational content/presentations and other program documentation; deliver targeted system and ministry based programs to various and caregivers.

  • Provide support in the development of the annual department work plan including conducting risk assessment interviews with select client leaders.

  • Support regional and local compliance and privacy committees by reporting status of assigned compliance activities.

  • Participate in the new hire interview and selection process.

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Healthcare, business administration, accounting, finance, management information systems, or related fields of study.

  • 5 years’ progressive compliance/privacy experience

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance, Healthcare Privacy Compliance, Healthcare Privacy & Security, Compliance & Ethics Professional, CPA or Certified Internal Auditor or JD

  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree - Business administration or Juris Doctor (JD)

  • 6 years’ progressive compliance/privacy experience in a healthcare setting.
