Description:
We are seeking a Principal IS Project Manager: IS Infrastructure who will be accountable for:
One or more large, diverse, and complex projects in the areas of information technology, clinical informatics, physician practice implementations, quality improvement, strategic objectives and goals
Managing all aspects of projects with direct accountability to the ministry / hospital / clinic staff / project leadership and / or Executive Sponsor
Supporting IS intake and governance teams as well as IS groups required to deploy IS services as defined
Quickly building collaborative relationships with ministry/hospital/clinic staff and leaders, to support their engagement efforts for the project
Serving as the primary point of contact between facility leadership and the resource managers of all IS teams and will require minimal supervision
Working with and facilitating processes to accomplish program and project objectives
Managing change, and resolving complex issues that span project teams and departments
Planning, organizing, directing, and supervising program activities in a standardized, cost effective and productive manner to achieve customer satisfaction
Relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variables
Ensuring projects are planned and executed in a manner that supports the Providence mission, integration, and collaboration across the health system, and meets the organizational objectives
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Strategic:
Develops projects within a program in alignment with the organization’s strategic plans and objectives
Builds support to influence decisions to ensure work toward common objectives
Proactively informs and influences others to maintain the balance required between business needs; project partner strategy and standards; and financial requirements and budgets
Facilitates strategic planning with internal customers for deployment of information technologies and/or major services and products
Management:
Manage client expectations from initial problem identification and through the project life cycle
Develop and gain sponsor approval and sign-off of the project charter / scope and / or work breakdown schedule
Manage projects and programs with increased complexity, strategic priority and/or visibility, system and/or regional priority
Develops and leads the project team to the delivery of successful project outcomes
Engage and organize the assignment of activities of multi-functional teams, as well as the project estimates, task dependencies and schedule
Builds and manages multiple, multi-functional collaborative project and/or work teams
Coordinates the activities of multi-functional teams, as well as the project budget, task dependencies and schedule
Scope, risk, and issue management, including documenting, communicating, and facilitating resolutions or mitigation plans
Develops, initiates, and manages a communication plan, including regular project status reports
Delivers appropriate integration, training and implementation plans and activities
Manages stakeholders and multiple project teams in the context of a single project
Acts as a coach and mentor
May be required to supervise or manage Project Coordinators
Coaches, develops, and manages other Project Managers for associated complex projects; facilitates customer needs for multiple departments and their associated lines of business
Operational:
Develops root cause analyses and process improvement plans
Maintains all project artifacts
Identifies, delivers and documents organizational, application and human workflows that contribute to policy and procedure updates throughout each project
Prepares and delivers presentations to executive leadership, senior management, and stakeholders
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, project management, healthcare admin or clinical field or a combination of equivalent education/experience
8 years' experience in project management experience in healthcare, information services, or other relevant industry or operations
8 years' experience leading large, diverse, and complex projects
8 years' experience and or expertise with the application of Project Management methodology based on project management principles
8 years' experience incorporating process improvement methodologies into large scale projects
8 years' experience facilitating complex decision making among multiple executive stakeholders with different interests and priorities
Demonstrated experience as a speaker in a professional presentation environment, such as conferences and association meetings
Demonstrated experience in business development and/or strategic and tactical planning and execution including marketing, communications, and financial planning
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
5 years’ experience in program management of IT infrastructure deployment (WAN, LAN, WiFi, Telephony)
Experience as technical program manager in healthcare, preferably hospital/clinical settings
Experience in program management of migrations to cloud
Experience with complex organizational settings (i.e., remote teams, matrix environment)
Master's Degree in Information Technology, project management, healthcare admin or clinical field
Certifications in process optimization such as Six Sigma, Lean, CQIA or other nationally recognized program
Project Management Professional designation (PMI) certification
Certified Associate in Project Management (PMI) Certification
